A few words about the International Poetry  Festival POETEKA

 

Poeteka  started at the gate of the Byzantine wall of the city (which today it’s call Porta Poeteka) under the sirens of the ships, sounds of instruments and musical voices, as well as accompanied by local culinary delicacies and aspects of cultural tourism.
From September till December 2004, Poeteka organized 13 events, where participated 21 Albanian poets and 4 international poets Claudio Pozzani, Maria Teresa Castellana, - Italy, Ferid Muhiq – Bosnia, Eliot Weinberger – USA.


This experience open the way for the creation of the first international festival of poetry - Poeteka.
In this Festival took part 15 poets from Italy, Portugal, Slovenia, Romania, Bosnia, Croatia, Macedonia, Kosovo and Montenegro. Among the invitees were Mircea Dinescu, Sibila Petlevski, Fernando Antunes, Edoardo Sanguineti (viva voce) Claudio Pozzani, Ali Podrimja, Basri Çapriqi, as well as the most distinguish poets of Albania.

 

In its second edition, POETEKA was enlarged very substantially in its own format. Besides all the positive elements of the first edition, the second was enlarged in its own dimensions, rendering possible that in the course of 7 days of its lasting, the Festival could run in other three important cultural centers of Albanian civilization (Apollonia, Berat, Shkodra), giving a wider and a more open feature to the Festival itself, and a greater possibility of participating to all those poets who live far from the urban centers.
